The mayor appoints members. There is no confirmation required by the council per Ordinance Number 796, 796A, 796B, 796C.

The commission consists of 7 members, 1 of whom is a member of the Planning Board, and 2 alternates.

Mission Statement


The mission of the Ramsey Environmental Commission is to:
  • Maintain the environmental and ecological stability of the Borough of Ramsey by addressing environmental concerns and issues affecting the borough.
  • Enhance decision-making by the local government by ensuring that environmental policies are integrated into all plans and projects.
  • Support education of the public and the local government regarding environmental issues and pertinent regulations.
  • Encourage maintenance and conservation of open space and wetlands in the borough.
  • Review borough site plans and make recommendations to the local government.
  • Update and maintain the borough's Natural Resources Inventory.
